Barcelona approach their summer transfer targets with total seriousness

Joan Laporta and Ronald Koeman are looking to build an ambitious and winning project at Barcelona, with plans already underway for summer recruitment.

All the players the Blaugrana are targeting are of high quality and lofty reputation in European football, though many of them would be arriving on the cheap.

The Catalans don't have the financial muscle of old as they try to pursue names that they might have found easier to attract a few years ago.

Yet there are still plenty of positives about joining Barcelona these days, no more so than the prospect of sharing a dressing room with Lionel Messi.

Memphis Depay

Koeman has spent almost a year asking for his compatriot to be signed at the Camp Nou. Depay's contract at Lyon will expire in the summer, though the French club are still looking at the possibility of an extension. Juventus and Liverpool are also interested.

Georginio Wijnaldum

Another of Koeman's former Dutch internationals, the midfielder is also out of contract at the end of this season. Liverpool haven't given up on keeping him but Barcelona are leading a number of clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Juventus, that are vying for his signature.

Eric Garcia

The young defender is out of contract this summer, too. He's rejected a new deal at Manchester City and wants to play for Barcelona. PSG have been interested, too.

Erling Haaland

One of the most sought-after players in world football, the 20-year-old is wanted by the biggest clubs in Europe, including City, PSG and Real Madrid. Borussia Dortmund value him at 180 million euros this summer.

Sergio Aguero

Barcelona are in advanced talks to sign Messi's Argentinian teammate, whose contract at City is up this summer. PSG and Independiente are also in the mix.
